Private Loans
Once the property is ours, to decrease the burden associated with lender financing during construction, small and mid-sized personal loans will be another great way to support the project. If you have some money put away that you could make temporarily available to this project, then read on!
Personal loans can be given for any amount over $10,000. Your loan will accrue interest at a rate that is negotiable based on your needs and expectation, but should be below lender rates to make it worthwhile for the retreat center. Personal loans can be arranged for as soon as the purchase of the retreat center has been completed. To avoid idle loans during construction breaks, the start date of your loan should be flexible for the retreat center to call upon during a period of up to eight months. We anticipate construction to start in the spring of 2008, which will also be the time when we would like to start taking advantage of any personal loans offered.
Interest can either be paid in the form of retreat days at the center (preferred) or in cash payable annually. The accrued retreat days are transferable and can be given to friends and family as gifts. When the loan is first set up, a total term that fits your situation will be agreed upon, but should not cover a period of less than two years, before maturity.
This is a great way to support the retreat center project if you can't make an outright cash donation or if you have already made one and would like to help in other ways. To set up a personal loan or discuss any questions you might have, please contact Charlotte Jorgensen.
