Stewart Jarvis is from Perth, Australia. While studying martial arts in college, he began to study Buddhism and meditation. He met Lama Ole Nydahl and his wife Hannah in 1993 in Japan. After several years of travel, mainly in the Indian Himalaya, Stewart and his wife returned home and founded the Diamond Way Center Perth. In 1999, Stewart travelled to Kalimpong, India to work as a tutor for the 17th Karmapa Thaye Dorje for 18 months. Stewart has lived in India, France, Japan, and Nepal. He recently completed two teaching tours of the Diamond Way centers in Russia. Stewart has worked as a high school biology teacher for 22 years.

Meditation Demystified-A Retreat in the City

Sometimes we see meditation as an obligation or "should," when it might be seen as a joyful opportunity. Come and practice with an experienced teacher in an informal setting with plenty of time for questions and answers. Experience the benefits of meditation, how to sit, breathe, and what to do with distractions. Experiment with methods that calm and center the mind, increase compassion and wisdom, and help with disturbing thoughts and feelings. Avoid the common pitfalls that discourage meditation practice. Learn how to develop and sustain an enduring meditation practice that fits your life.
