2010 President’s Day Meditation Retreat
Feb 12th-15th
Incarnation Center - Connecticut
Dearest Friends:
The North East Sangha invites you to the 11th annual President's Day Retreat which will take place at the Incarnation Center in Ivoryton, CT from Friday February 12th to Monday February 15th. You can arrive as early as 4pm on Friday Feb 12th, and the retreat will end by 4pm on Monday Feb 15th.
The program will focus on personal meditation practice and include teachings and meditation explanations from our North East travel teachers in the evenings.
FACILITY
The Incarnation Center is located in Ivoryton on the southern coast of Connecticut. The camp is nestled in the woods at the edge of a pristine mile-long lake. For more information, visit the Incarnation Center Website.
We will stay in Katsanis Hall, which has separate meditation space and social space. In addition, we will have access to one building on the lakefront called Tumble Inn. This facility is better suited for families with children than facilities we’ve used in the past. For a view of the space, visit: Katsanis Hall at Incarnation Center.
CHILDCARE
The facility is a great place for babies and kids, who can play together (indoors or outdoors) while parents take turns meditating. Baby monitors will work between the rooms and the Ghompa and the social area. So please feel welcome to venture out for a few days! If you are up for it please email Masha at rickchary@hotmail.com so we can prepare to make the best of it for everyone.
COST
The cost of the entire retreat is $200, which includes 3 nights accommodation, 3 meals on Saturday and Sunday, and breakfast and lunch on Monday Feb 15th. Lunch and dinner will be catered, and members of the sangha will prepare the breakfasts for everyone. Dinner will not be provided on Friday night (Feb 12), but anyone arriving on Friday evening can make use of the full kitchen in the building.
Children 4 and under can stay for free, and children 5 to 12 get a 30% discount ($140 for the full weekend).
If you have strict dietary restrictions or other special circumstances, you may be able to bring your own food and request a discounted price. Please note that we will be able to accommodate few requests as cooking facilities are very limited.
SPONSORSHIP
If you would like to support retreat attendance for friends in financial difficulty, please contribute 5 or 10 dollars. These funds will be used to help a limited number of friends who cannot otherwise afford it.
