Dear friends! Welcome to our site!
The teachings of Buddhism have remained a liberating gift for the last
2500 years. Non dogmatic and without any gods or commandments,
it has enabled people to benefit both others and themselves.
Especially today, with many independent thinkers and new
communication techniques, it has become possible to collect and make
accessible authentic Buddhist teachings, in fresh, and relevant
ways.
"Diamond Way Buddhism" offers a rich access to all levels of Buddhist
teachings.
Diamond
Way centers focus particularly on the teachings and methods of
the Karma Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism. The Karma Kagyu
school is one of the four main schools that flourished in Tibet
until 1959 when the teachings were carried over the Himalayas by
qualified Lamas (Teachers) and brought to western countries.
The Edmonton Diamond Way Buddhist Center is part of an
international network of over 550 Buddhist Meditation Centers that
are directed by
Lama Ole
Nydahl and under the spiritual guidance of
H.H. the 17th
Karmapa Thaye Dorje. Lama Ole, along with his wife Hannah,
have been integral forces in adapting the timeless wisdom of Diamond
Way Buddhism to western society.
The Diamond Way Buddhist Centers are comprised of lay people who
strive to incorporate Buddhist methods and meditation into their
daily lives. Members share the responsibility for all levels of
centre organization, including guiding meditations, answering
questions and giving explanations. All centre activity is unpaid,
and done on the basis of idealism and friendship.
