Buddhism in the City is a two-day event featuring Lama Ole Nydahl, and will be held at the Chicago Cultural Center on May 19 & 20. An opening lecture will be held on Friday, May 18 at Northwestern University's Thorne Auditorium.
With a direct and humorous style, Lama Ole teaches how the skillful methods of the Buddha can be applied in all of life's situations. This fresh, practical, and beyond-cultural application of Buddhism provides useful methods for turning the challenges of life into opportunities to develop fearlessness, joy and compassion.
The lecture series is intended to help participants develop an accurate and meaningful view of life and learn about the inner workings of mind. Lecture topics include "Fearlessness, Joy, and Active Compassion," "Buddha and Love," and "Death and Rebirth," which comprise the totality of Buddhist practice. Complementing the program will be morning sessions with Lama Ole's most experienced students who will give talks on "Teacher and Student Relationship," "Buddhist Philosophy" and "Practicing Meditation."
