John’s search for authentic spiritual teachings originated in the 1970s and expanded with his exposure to Buddhism.  Meeting some of the great old lamas of Tibet, traveling extensively in the Himalayas, and meditating for years culminated in identifying Lama Ole as his teacher in 1996.

John has worked as a professional musician and building contractor.  He has painted thangkas and enjoys sailing.  John lives in Portland, Oregon with his wife and best friend, Jeri.  He has been traveling and teaching at Lama Ole’s request since 2003.

Jim Macur has been practicing Buddhism since 2000. In 2005, at the request of Lama Ole Nydahl, he began traveling and teaching about Diamond Way in cities throughout North America. He has lived in a number of Buddhist centers in the US, including: Wisconsin, Minnesota, Hawaii and Colorado. He currently resides in Denver with his amazing wife and two beautiful girls. Jim has his MA in Music Performance, but spends most days hanging with kids as the Director of a children’s fitness center.
