He lived in Japan in 1991 and met Lama Ole Nydahl and his wife Hannah there in 1993. After several years of travel, mainly in the Indian Himalayas, he and his wife returned to Perth and founded the Diamondway Center there with Lama Ole's blessing. In 1999 Stewart traveled to Kalimpong, NE India to work as a tutor for the 17th Karmapa for one and a half years until the end of 2000. Stewart has lived in India, France, Japan and Nepal. He has traveled extensively through Asia and Europe and recently was on two teaching tours of the Diamondway centers in Russia.
