Mini-Talks

Hello all! Following Lama Ole's wishes, we now all have the opportunity to gain experience in talking about Buddhism in the form of Mini-Talks - 10-minute eggs, as Ole puts it.

It works like this:
You have been coming to the center and are inspired to give a mini talk. There are eight introductory topics (see below) from which we can choose. We select a topic and a Sunday or Wednesday meeting date in the next month on which we will give our Mini-talk. Then, we simply add your name to the list on the announcement board at the center.

Some important points to remember:
Ole is really encouraging us to do these talks, because it is an inspiration for our own growth when we take a more active role with the teachings. Mini-talks also provide us with the supportive feedback of our fellow practitioners so we that have something inspiring and clear to say to friends and family when they ask us about our practice.

How to give a Mini-Talk:
1. Make sure it is purely Diamond Way Buddhism.
2. Make sure it has a definite basis in actual Buddhist teachings. (Do your research!)
3. Keep it to 10 minutes or less.
4. Try not to read straight from notes.
5. Relax and remember...your audience won't bite!

Topics:
1. Impermanence and Opportunity
2. Karma - Cause and Effect
3. Refuge: lasting happiness
4. Buddha's Life
5. Buddha-nature: mind's potential
6. Meditation - working with mind
7. Basics in Buddhism
8. Motivation
