Austin Sangha Vision

The Austin sangha vision is the ever-continuing purpose to offer Diamond Way Karma Kagyu Buddhism to the current and future generations of Central Texas. To achieve this honorable goal takes a good deal of practical muscle and, most importantly, some experience of the Buddhist teachings.

Long term, it is advantageous to own and build-up our own meditation facility. Such a center will host some of the practicing community. Since 1998 we have rented residential facilities to offer the teachings to the public. We have moved several times over the years and have simultaneously grown. We are currently using a residential home privately owned by two center members. This was a big step and enables us to shape the space accorging to our vision. Our long term goal is still to purchase a Diamond Way Buddhism Foundation owned meditation facility in Austin.

Our vision meetings, regarding approaches to offering Buddhism to the public, since 2002, have greatly shaped and defined what we currently offer the community of Austin, and how we do it. We offer frequent programs through University of Student Organizations, hold more concise meditation meetings with greater frequency than previously, maintain a more in-depth web-site, we will soon offer a Study Group Program, and we continue to provide special-guest travelling teacher programs and retreats. All such travelling teachers have direct permission and blessing from Lama Ole Nydahl to teach Buddhism in the Diamond Way Buddhist Centers.
