Kerstin took refuge with Lama Ole in 1980 and moved from Denmark where she was born and raised to the Wuppertal Center in Germany in 1990. She studied book restoration and paper arts from 1992 to 1999 and studied buddhism at the Karmapa International Buddhist Institute in New Delhi (KIBI) from 1994 -1999. In 2003 she founded Buddhistischer Verlag under the auspices of which she publishes buddhist books. Lama Ole first asked her to travel and teach in 2000. This will be her second North American teaching tour and her second time teaching in Albuquerque. She's incredibly knowledgeable and a really inspiring example of someone who is taking Lama Ole's teachings to heart.

Lama Ole Nydahl is one of a handful of Westerners fully qualified as a lama and meditation teacher in the Karma Kagyu tradition of Tibetan Buddhism. He and his late wife Hannah were close students of the great yogi, the 16th Karmapa. Hannah and Ole first met the Karmapa in Kathmandu in 1969 and stayed with him for three years of intensive study. In 1972, the Karmapa asked them to return to Denmark to begin teaching. Back home, they faced the challenge of introducing Tibetan Buddhism to educated, secular Europeans. Thousands of men and women around the world, inspired by Hannah and Ole’s example, now study and practice together in a closely knit network of over 560 groups and centers.
